MOST PRESENTATIONS ARE BORING! Teaching modern high school students has been an exhilarating change to the status quo of education. Modern students can multi-task, find facts and reference material themselves, and need dynamic teaching environments in order to remain engaged. Remember all those boring 8-hour trainings you've been to at work where you can only think about lunch and leaving? That didn't work then and it certainly doesn't work now. I wrote this book to be dynamic, engaging, and more of a quick reference guide. For students that need to start from the bottom all the way to those who have been using the manual for years; it is designed to be useful to all. Originally written for my own classroom, it has quickly expanded to classrooms all across the country at all levels of education. Give it a try, it works!

Written to be turn-key

This manual was written to be a job aid and a guide. The chapters are laid out simply with each chapter encompassing a different ICS position. The chapters are packed with information similar to a quick reference and ordered so that the reader can immediately go to work and know their role in the big picture. The chapter information progresses in intensity so that even seasoned professionals will find it useful.

Subject matter experts

This manual was written and advised on by those who have been responding to disasters for decades. Individuals who build disaster responses from the ground up and get it done no matter what the scope of the incident. Throughout the pages are tips from professionals, direct quotes from responders, and lessons learned from those who have done it. There are even examples of work, templates, and resources to find more information.
